Kick off the festive season in style and bring the whole family down to Hebburn's Fountains Park to enjoy the great atmosphere as we switch on the Christmas lights!
The evening will include lots of great street entertainment and lovely festive music.
This year's event will be extra special, as the honour of switching on the lights will go to a local hero who shone by supporting their community during covid restrictions.
Hebburn schoolboy Oliver Nicholson delivered little notes and treats to his elderly neighbours to help keep up their spirits during the first lockdown period. These small acts of kindness led to him being crowned the winner of the #LoveSouthTyneside Awards. We are delighted Oliver will switch on this year's festive lights.
The evening will also include festive songs and carols from St Aloysius RC Primary School choir and a brass quartet as well as funfair rides and a magic performance from Mr Merlin.
Colourful characters, street performers and entertainers from Creative Seed will be mingling with the crowd and Santa along with one of his elves will also be making a special appearance.
Visitors heading to the event are encouraged to follow Covid-related public health advice at the time of the event, for example to wear a face covering (unless exempt) to help protect themselves & others and to take a test before the event. Those who feel unwell or symptomatic should stay at home.
Please note filming and photography will be carried out at this event, please notify one of the events team if this is an issue. Imagery could be used by the Council, press and partners post event as a record of the evening and to promote the event in the future.
