Parks
Hebburn Riverside Park

A splendid development on the banks of the Tyne at Hebburn, with beautifully landscaped banks. It's a terrific place to relax and watch life on the river. The Riverside Park acts as a gateway into the Great North Forest, which aims to conserve and enhance areas to create new well-wooded landscapes for recreation and wildlife.

The North and South Marine Parks - South Shields

swansEstablished in 1886 by the South Shields Corporation. Visitors can enjoy gentle walks through South Marine Park with its boating lake, birds and miniature steam railway. Take a rest while feeding the swans or ducks or take in a game of Bowls or a round of the putting green in North Marine Park.

Bents Park - South Shields

Provides a large open space for informal summer activities and games. During the summer months the park provides a lovely open air setting for the Cookson Festival concerts and is packed with revellers enjoying the free music and entertainment.

 
West Park - South Shields

Park dates from 1894. Traditional venue for Good Friday service and Remembrance Day Service.

 
Cleadon Park / Recreational Ground - South Shields

Park dates from 1918. Popular for football matches with several pitches. There is an attractive 'dell' area for passive leisure.

 
Robert Redhead Park - South Shields

This small park was acquired from Robert Redhead in 1921.

 
Coulthard Park - Cleadon Village

This small park was acquired in 1949. The land was once the location of a lake.

 
Grange Park - Boldon

Small mature park in a residential area that was acquired in 1950.

 

Cornthwaite Park - Whitburn

This park has regularly won Britain in Bloom awards, contains tennis courts and bowling greens. Land acquired in 1953.

 
West Park- Jarrow

Situated in the heart of Jarrow this park has a true Victorian flavour with an impressive entrance way and bandstand. The parkland was acquired in 1886.

 
Monkton Dene Park - Jarrow

Set on the slopes of a natural valley this park features a stream running through the heart of it. The land was acquired in 1922.

 
Springwell Park - Jarrow

This park has steep grassy banks, mature trees and shrubs. It was acquired in 1924.

 
Carr Ellison Park - Hebburn

This large park is situated in the centre of Hebburn. It underwent a major refurbishment in 1999 as a result of a Heritage Lottery Grant. The land was acquired in 1920.
