Below are details of some practical bits of information to help you plan your visit!

Getting here and parking

Along our seafront there are numerous pay and display car parks. There is also a public pay and display car park at Marsden Bay, next to the lift and stairs that provide access to the beach.

Parking charges at South Shields seafront Council owned pay and display car parks:

  • 1p per minute for the first hour
  • £1 per hour thereafter
  • £5 all day

A 12 month parking permit is also available. This costs £100 and can be ordered online at South Tyneside Council: Forshore (seafront) parking permit or in person at South Shields Visitor Information Centre.

For more information on car parks and charges, and to purchase a parking permit online, go to South Tyneside Council: Parking.

South Shields seafront is only about a ten minute walk along Ocean Road from South Shields town centre, main bus station and car parks. Find out more about parking in South Shields Town Centre.

The seafront is also served by a number of bus routes.
