It's not long till the summer and the return of the South Tyneside Summer Festival with a programme of free live music, open air concerts, parades, street theatre, children's entertainment and lots more!

Key dates for your diary include:

Thursday and Saturday nights in June - Live music at the Amphitheatre.

Saturday 6 July - The Summer Festival Parade

Sunday 7 July - Family Fun Day

Sunday 14 - Free music concert with Blue and The Honeyz

Sunday 21 July - Free concert with Toploader and The South

Sunday 28 July - Free concert with Rick Astley and The Christians

Tuesdays and Thursdays in August (until 22 August) - Tommy the Trumpeters final summer at Tommy's Parties

Other events to book in your diary now include Foghorn Requiem on Saturday 22 June and the Armed Forces Day Parade & Badlanders Fun Day on Sunday 23 June.

And new for 2013 and not to be missed is Sound Waves 2013 at Bents Park on Sunday 25 August . This huge music event will feature headline act McFly who are joined alongside Joe McElderry and more big name acts.
